Diagnosis Endometriosis – What Now?

The symptoms of endometriosis can be very painful for some women.

Are your menstrual cramps a result of endometriosis?

Does endometriosis play a part in your difficulties to conceive a child?

Why not give homeopathy a go for a year or two before considering more invasive options? Rather than shutting down the hormone system with medication, why not work on getting it back into balance? Homeopathy aims to improve your quality of life at the same time as providing a solution to your health issues.

Menstrual cramping and infertility resulting from Endometriosis:

Endometriosis has often been present for a long time before the diagnosis. Women can initially not notice any symptoms at all or may have anything from light to severe pain in the pelvic or surrounding area. The pain is usually worse before or during menstruation or during sex. Women with endometriosis often also suffer from fibroids. Endometriosis can lead to infertility by causing damage to reproductive organs

Endometriosis means that the endometrial tissue, which usually lines the uterus and is responsible for monthly menstrual cycles, grows in other areas in or even outside the pelvis. The exact reasons for this and why some women experience inflammatory pain are not entirely clear so far.

Looking at adjusting diet, improving the immune system, considering genetic susceptibilities, balancing hormone levels and identifying emotional blockages, can all be part of the journey back to health.

To keep it simple, you could just start by occasionally sitting down comfortably with a cup of tea exploring this question: “Are my mental-emotional needs in tune with what I perceive is expected of me in the world?”. We might be talking about “scar tissue” in every sense of the word here. Small lifestyle changes might be all that is needed for some.

Conventional treatment usually consists of hormonal medication (birth control pills, synthetic progestin or other) and/or surgical removal of endometrial tissue. Unfortunately, hormonal treatments may have unpleasant side effects (such as for example temporary premature menopausal symptoms) and endometrial tissue often grows back within a few months of surgery. Some women spend many years trying all the options without much long-term success, whilst coping more or less well with the side effects the treatments entail. Hysterectomy is a last resort.

Homeopathy as an alternative or a complementary treatment:

Homeopathy is worth considering as an alternative or complement to more invasive options. This post is intended for informational purposes only. Remember that there is no right way to deal with symptoms. Everyone is different and good health doesn’t mean the same for everyone. Especially if well indicated remedies don’t have the desired efffect, do ask yourself: Is this really an acute illness I can deal with myself or are these symptoms part of an on-going repeated pattern? For chronic illness you should consult a professional homeopath who has completed an accredited course. Please consult with your health practitioner before making decisions that affect your health, especially if you suffer from any medical condition or have symptoms that may require medical treatment.
